Did you know January and February are for Hibernation not Transformation?
Did you know January and February are for Hibernation not Transformation?
As my friend Chloe always says ‘It’s Winter, it’s time to rest’.
Since I can remember we have been told that January is the time for new beginnings, regimes and versions of ourselves, but why do we find it so hard to stick to goals in January and even in February?
Would it surprise you to learn that the year used to start on 25th March? On a day known as ‘Lady Day’. It was changed in 1752 when we adopted the new calendar, forever damaging our ability to hibernate and restock during Winter.
You see, the Winter months were never intended to encompass new beginnings, they were always supposed to be for resting, regenerating and reflecting.
Telling ourselves to ‘start over’ in January is about as much use as a chocolate teapot…
So instead of jumping into the ‘New Year, New Me’ madness, take a step back and enjoy the reflective Winter months ahead before allowing the joys of Spring to bring your new ideas to life.
Besides, there is nothing wrong with you anyway!
Happy January everyone xx
