  • Do We All Go a Bit Whacky During a Full Moon?

Do We All Go a Bit Whacky During a Full Moon?

The Full Moon this week seems to have sent us all into a spin! Everyone has been reporting disturbed sleep, crazy dreams and forgetfulness; perhaps you have noticed this too?

My question today though is: ‘do we actually go a bit whacky during the Full Moon?’

Let’s dig into it a bit more to find out if we really can keep blaming the Moon for our energetic shifts, or if we need to find something else in the Universe to blame!

It turns out that we have blamed the Full Moon for our odd behaviour for as long as we have been telling stories about the sky. The idea that the Moon can disturb our minds is so old that it is woven into our language itself…

The word ‘lunatic’ comes from the Latin ‘Luna’, meaning Moon, and reflects the ancient belief that mental imbalance rose and fell with the lunar cycle.

Classical thinkers tried to explain this perceived influence in physical terms, for instance, Hippocrates suggested that the human body, being largely made of water, might be affected by the Moon in the same way as the tides. If the Moon could move the seas, it seemed reasonable that it might also stir the fluids of the brain and unsettle our thoughts and emotions. Aristotle also linked the Moon with moisture and instability, reinforcing the idea that it could disturb the mind.

During the Middle Ages, this belief grew stronger as doctors and astrologers paid close attention to lunar phases when diagnosing illnesses. Full Moons were thought to worsen epilepsy, provoke madness and encourage strange or dangerous behaviours. Courts in Europe sometimes accepted ‘Moon Madness’ as a partial explanation for crimes, on the assumption that a person might temporarily lose reason under its light.

Of course we’ve all heard the stories of werewolves and other shapeshifters tied directly to the Full Moon, suggesting that something animal and uncontrollable emerges when the Moon is at its brightest.

In more recent centuries, this idea has lingered as Nurses, Police Officers and Teachers still often say that Full Moons bring busier shifts and more emotional or disruptive behaviour.

Modern studies, however question whether the Moon actually does directly causes these changes to us, suggesting that human perception plays a powerful role. For example, Full Moons are noticeable and memorable, so when something unusual happens on those nights, we are more likely to remember it and connect the two.

There may also be subtle psychological factors at work. The Full Moon is brighter, especially in places without strong artificial lighting, and this can disturb our sleep. Poor sleep is well known to make people feel more emotional, impulsive or unfocused. In this way, the Moon may influence us indirectly, not through mystical forces, but through light and routine. Added to this is the deep symbolic meaning the Moon holds. It has always been linked with cycles, fertility, tides and the hidden world of feelings. When we are already tired or sensitive, these symbols can amplify how we interpret our own moods.

So the idea that the Full Moon makes us feel whacky sits at a crossroads between history, language, folklore and psychology. It is not simply a modern superstition but a belief shaped by ancient medicine, medieval fear and human pattern seeking.

Whether or not the Moon truly alters our minds, it certainly affects how we think about ourselves, reminding us that we are still creatures who look up at the sky and search for meaning in its changes.

No matter the ‘truth’, I choose to believe that the Full Moon hold beautiful, Divine Feminine energy and that she holds the power to affect our lives, energy and of course our dreams too!

If something has been discussed colloquially for centuries our innate understanding of them far transcends the modern perspective and research which we sometimes unfairly attribute more weight to in society today.

So what do YOU think? Does the Full Moon send us all a little whacky? I’d love to hear from you.

  • Mercury Retrograde, Yang Energy and Low Tolerance for BS…

Mercury Retrograde, Yang Energy and Low Tolerance for BS…

    Hello all,

It has been a while since I’ve shared a blog post. I feel as though I’ve been in the spiritual trenches recently and I’m just coming out of the other side.

Surprise, surprise it is Mercury Retrograde (Metro Retro, Mercury in the Microwave) again! If you’ve read my previous posts you’ll know I’m not a great believer in letting planets dictate our lives. I think we fear Metro Retro because we are told to fear it. The truth though is that like all energetic shifts, it’ll remove or reveal some stuff we need to shift, or pay attention to.

It has definitely provided me with both of these opportunities, I write half laughing, half crying! I feel like my patience (life lesson of this incarnation) has been T E S T E D recently. I’ve had to really reflect and start to understand why I have limited patience in certain situations and learn to take responsibility for my reactions, rather than trying to extinguish the situations themselves. I find a good old moan always helps too haha (thanks there really does go to my wonderful friends who make it easy to vent).

So what does all of this have to do with low tolerance for BS and Yang Energy?

As I’m sure you’ve been made aware, this year holds rare, Yang Fire Horse energy. Yang represents the Divine Masculine which is an interesting concept in a world which is finally beginning to understand the proper role the Divine Feminine has to play (spoiler alert, it doesn’t involve ‘doing it all’). The Yang Fire energy is helping us to embody the blazing fires of creativity, confidence and action.

This is wonderful to the extent that we are more focused, decisive and powerful BUT the downside is that we can lose our connection to others. Yang energy can be very self-focused meaning we lack empathy or tolerance for others. I don’t know about you, but my tolerance levels for any kind of perceived BS lately have been a flat out ZERO. It really is a new and fun challenge for 2026 and a sure sign that we should be careful to balance the Yang energies with the softer, Divine Feminine energies this year.

The Divine Feminine is still going strong and those settling into it can rest assured that the blazing fire of the year is going to help us spread that message even further!

My words of advice, for what they’re worth are: surround yourself with people who bring you joy and comfort across the coming month. Keep a grounding crystal close by and if the mood takes you, vent your frustrations in your journal; you may find you need to!

So much love to you all!

  • New Year, Not New Year, Resolutions, New Beginnings?

I’ve never been a fan of the ‘New Year, new me’ that is championed at this time of year, but perhaps not for the reason you think…

Every single day is a new beginning, a new opportunity to change and grow, but of course we know that beneath it we are still us. We are still the same person, we’ve just bloomed a little more. The fantastically interesting thing about humans is that we can grow in light and also in darkness. We are yin and yang: the perfect balance. Often we reject these undesirable aspects of ourselves, but they too teach us a valuable lesson.

When we call for a new beginning we sometimes gloss over, or ignore the incredibly hard work we have put in to becoming the version of us that stands here right now. So remember…

You may not be exactly who you want to be right now, but what have you survived to get here? What have you endured or overcome? I’d imagine that you, five years ago would barely recognise the version of you present today.

Whether you’re choosing to welcome a new beginning today, or continue wintering until March, remember that you can begin a new chapter whenever you decide to, you don’t need anybody else’s permission.

Before I end, a little message from my Guide Silas: ‘in mundum vastissimum imus’ meaning ‘out into the wide world we go’.

    Happy New Year!

  • Using AI Energetically when posting as a Holistic Therapist

Using AI Energetically when posting as a Holistic Therapist

AI has become our new bestie when it comes to pretty much everything, but I’m seeing more and more Holistic Practitioners using it to write their posts and there are some things which are important to consider when using AI to share your healing energy on socials.

Chels, I’m just using it to share information, why are you on my back?

Fair enough, but I think it is time we revisit the ‘everything is energy’ conversation. Remember that every single thing in the Universe is made up of vibrating atoms of energy. That includes you, me, your phone, computer, social media channels and your energy healing offerings. The simple act of posting on your social channels is an energy exchange and guess what, our blessed AI doesn’t hold your energy.

Your energy is the reason your clients will find you and choose to work with you. It is after all the reason you chose to work with me right? When you apply words to your socials, you apply your energy and if you are relying solely on AI to do it, how can you expect a human being to respond to it?

How do you get around this and begin energetically posting with the assistance of AI?

    • Let it get to know you and your business better! You have spent years learning about yourself and creating your frequency…AI is clever but it can’t mimic you with just a few prompts.

Talk to AI as if you were explaining your business to someone that has never heard of Holistic Therapy before. Explain your ethos, belief systems and the types of healing you offer. It has to get to know you almost as well as you do if you expect it to spit out something which sounds like you. An important side note here is that you cannot have an expectation of copyright if you’re sharing your information with AI, so please bear that in mind when deciding what you feel comfortable sharing.

    • Where are you from? Most AI providers for English speakers will default to American English when writing posts and it’s a dead giveaway that you’ve used AI.

I hate to be the one to break this to you, but if you’re based in the UK (as most of my students are), you need to know that AI is grassing you up by spelling words the American way. There is a ‘u’ in ‘favourite’ my Angels and ‘fibre’ is ‘re’ not ‘er’ over here. These little oversights give you away and I don’t want that for you. Tell your chat bot to write in British English or in whatever type of English you want it to. I’ve not tried Essex slang but I might give that a go!

    • Overuse of hyphens or ‘dashes’… again this is giving AI and it’s not pretty.

AI is allergic to commas. It will use hyphens (dashes) instead and it is another dead giveaway that you’ve been using AI to write your posts. Either ask AI to remove them or take them out yourself, trust me your post will read much better for it.

    • Overuse of emojis…

AI loves an emoji! It appears to find it easier to express itself through the use of emojis and will add them whenever and wherever it can. While emojis add interest to your content, too many can be too much, so just make sure you’re happy with it before hitting ‘post’.

    • The energy you are putting in vs. the energy you are putting out.

Consider what mood you are in when you are asking AI to create a post for you. In a hurry? Fed up? Tired? Your energy affects your judgement when it comes to prompting AI. Are you really speaking to it with your voice? In an ideal world you don’t want your clients to be able to tell that you have used AI for your posts. You want them to be able to hear your voice through your words.

    • Authenticity

There is NOTHING wrong with using AI as a sounding board for your work, but remember, your actual voice is important too. Who cares if you’re not a natural Wordsmith? People are drawn to you because you are authentically YOU, don’t let AI take that away from you.

    ***

In summary then, AI is undoubtedly a useful tool to get your ideas in order, and even to polish your posts but don’t let it write for you. Your voice and your words are your online identity (read that again). Remember that anything you put into AI systems can be spat out for someone just like you prompting it to create something similar! Be careful to protect your uniqueness and let it shine through.

  • From Grief to Gratitude: The Practice that is Changing my Life

From Grief to Gratitude: The Practice that is Changing my Life

    Hello Earth Angels!

I am wishing you a blessed April and hope you are finding joy in the beauty of Spring. Stay tuned to the end for a new gratitude practice! 🙏🏻

I wanted to share my experience of practising gratitude during grief with you. I hope that in sharing this we can all reflect on the unexplainable power of gratitude in our everyday lives, no matter the circumstances.

You may or may not know that me and my lovely husband Ben have recently experienced significant loss. As sadly most of you will know when you experience loss, the grieving process happens by hook or by crook.

We both tried to run away from it, to pretend everything was fine, but as it always does, grief just found us in any moment of rest.

I don’t need to tell you about the pain or grief, we all know it far too well and we all know that it doesn’t ‘pass’ but it does eventually become ‘passable’, allowing us to live our lives again.

A friend asked me recently how I was finding positives in each day and how I could make jokes and smile. At first I didn’t know the answer, but then it hit me like a lightening bolt: Gratitude.

Somehow, in the chaos of grief, we found gratitude.

It started off as gratitude for each other, then it was gratitude for getting through my operation safely, gratitude for being allowed to go home, to eat, to have each other. As with most good things, the more we accepted the presence of gratitude the more it grew.

The stand-out gratitude moment from March was the incredible cheese and pickle sandwich a lovely nurse brought me with a cup of tea a few hours after my operation after a day of fasting!

There have been days where I have been angry at my feelings of gratitude – why should we be grateful right now? So many people aren’t and they still get everything they want… that may be controversial to say but sometimes it feels true.

Before I really took to my spiritual path I struggled with gratitude. I had been brought up to say ‘thank you’ but I didn’t understand that gratitude was much more than that, that it was a feeling, a knowing.

Then, in the time in-between then and now, the Universe had unknowingly created a space for me where gratitude flowed…apparently even when everything was falling apart.

So, no matter what is going on in your life, I wonder if you can find just one tiny thing you are thankful for? Start with the roof over your head or the clothes on your back and move from there.

Our journey into grief hasn’t long started and of course this hasn’t and won’t ‘cure’ it, but I can tell you wholeheartedly that gratitude has made it bearable.

Each night at 20:20 I’ll be sharing a gratitude exercise over on my Facebook page. It will ask you to find the best thing from your day, no matter how lousy your day has been. I’d love you to join us in raising our collective gratitude by adding yours.

Lastly, I want to express our deep and heartfelt gratitude to you for your kind words, healing, hugs and support, we feel so very lucky to have you.

    Love and light always!

    Chelsey xx

  • When the Signs Do Not Come. Trusting the Universe’s Timing

When the Signs Do Not Come. Trusting the Universe’s Timing

Have you ever found yourself looking for a sign from the Universe only to be met with silence? I know I have!

You ask, you wait, you search…but nothing. It is frustrating, disheartening even. You might start questioning whether you are on the right path or if the Universe has somehow forgotten about you. But what if the absence of a sign is the sign?

We live in a world that thrives on instant gratification. We want answers now, clarity now, reassurance now. But the Universe does not work on demand. Signs do not appear just because we want them to, they come when we need them, when the timing is right, when we are ready to receive them, and when they can serve our highest good.

    The Power of Surrender

One of the hardest yet most crucial aspects of manifestation is letting go. We choose what we desire, we set our intentions, and then we release. But too often, we hold on with a tight grip, watching and waiting for confirmation, hoping for a sign that we are on the right track. This energy of control and desperation actually blocks the very guidance we seek.

Think of it like planting a seed. You do not keep digging it up to see if it is growing, you trust that, beneath the soil, unseen forces are at work. Signs are the same way. They come when they are meant to, not when we demand them.

When No Sign Is the Sign…

If you are not receiving signs, ask yourself:

Am I too focused on needing validation? Trusting the process means moving forward even when there is no confirmation.

Is the silence pushing me to develop patience and faith? Often, the lesson is not in the sign itself but in learning to trust without it.

Could the Universe be guiding me to rely on my own inner knowing? Sometimes, we seek external signs when the truth is already within us.

Trust That It Is Coming: Or Something Better Is

Not receiving a sign does not mean you are off track. It means the Universe is working in ways you may not yet see. Sometimes, what we think we need a sign for is already unfolding behind the scenes. Other times, our intended path is being gently rerouted towards something even greater.

So instead of waiting anxiously for a sign, shift your focus:

    1. Stay open to unexpected guidance. Signs rarely come in the way we expect.

    2. Trust your intuition. You already know more than you realise.

    3. Keep moving forward. The Universe rewards faith in action.

The signs will come, but not because you force them. They will come when you release, trust, and allow. And when they do, you will realise they were never missing at all; you were just learning how to see them in a new way!
